VANCOUVER, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Gold Star Resources
Corp. (TSX-V; GXX; OTC Bulletin Board: GXXFF;
http://www.goldstarresources.com/) today announced the appointment
of James W. Dick to its Board of Directors. Mr. Dick is a
professional geologist with 46 years of petroleum industry
experience. He is currently President of JW Dick & Associates
Ltd., based in Calgary Alberta, Canada, which is an international
consulting company with experience in forty countries. The company
has accepted the resignation of Robert Findlay and would like to
thank him for his service. According to Patrick Morris, President
and CEO of Gold Star Resources, "We are very pleased to have James
Dick join our Board of Directors. Not only is Jim a seasoned
geologist, but he was also the lead geologist for Katana Resources,
a Canadian public company, which was the last company to explore
for oil and gas in Liberia. Exploration was abandoned due to civil
unrest in the 1980's. "His experience in West Africa and in other
similar frontier areas coupled with his supervisory positions with
companies such as Imperial Oil and D&S Petroleum Group will
help boost Gold Star's stated goal of being a top-tier onshore oil
and gas exploration firm on the Africa continent." James Dick
stated on his appointment that "I am very pleased to be able to
return to an exploration prospect in West Africa that I felt had
great potential. Gold Star's acquisition of an onshore block allows
the company to explore for and produce offshore oil with onshore
economics." Gold Star Resources recently announced that it also
appointed Peter G. Wilson, President of Hana Mining Ltd. (TSXV:
HMG) and Robert G. Dinning CA, a Director of Paramount Gold &
Silver Corp. to its Board of Directors. Gold Star is a Canadian
company focused on onshore oil and gas exploration opportunities in
Liberia, Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana. The company recently announced a
Letter-of-Intent with Bengal Bight Ghana Ltd., a Ghanaian company,
to acquire 100% interest in the mineral rights of Bengal's 1,000
sq. km. Tiampoum mining concession in Cote d'Ivoire, near the
border of Ghana. Gold Star also emerged onto the West African oil
scene with the 90% acquisition of the exploration rights of an
onshore block covering 1366 square kilometer area along the coast
of Liberia. DATASOURCE: Gold Star Resources Corp. CONTACT: Patrick
