ING Groep NV on Thursday said Supervisory Board Chairman Hans Wijers has decided to hand over his duties for personal reasons and will retire from the supervisory board in the second half of the year.

The Dutch lender said its supervisory board has started plans to elect Mr. Wijers' successor and ensure a smooth transition.
