The West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles’ (DMV) efforts to
make their services more accessible to citizens has once again
earned national attention. The DMV’s IT program is nominated in the
StateScoop 50 Awards for the State IT
Program of the Year category. The finalist will be decided by
public votes made prior to the April 17 deadline. The DMV
encourages the public to help recognize the program and people
involved in its success by visiting http://go.wv.gov/votedmv and
selecting and voting for "West Virginia Online Vehicle Registration
Renewal."
“We are proud that our online services continue to be nationally
recognized, “ said Pat Reed, DMV Commissioner. “Online and mobile
services make it easy and convenient for citizens to interact with
the DMV. Bringing more services online will continue to be a focus
of the West Virginia DMV.”
The award winning service allows citizens to easily renew their
vehicle registration online by entering property tax payment
information instead of providing a printed receipt. In addition,
citizens can have their renewal processed faster than by mail,
receive an email with printable registration card upon DMV
approval, and easily upgrade to a two-year renewal. Citizens can
use the service any time, day or night, to renew vehicle
registrations online with the DMV by visiting
http://dmv.wv.gov.
Online Vehicle Registration Renewals joins existing DMV online
services such as Driver’s License Status Check, Driver Record
Purchase, Driver’s License Reinstatement Fee Payments, Personalized
Plate Search and Duplicate Registration Cards, Plates and
Decals.
The StateScoop 50 Awards is a national program that recognizes
the best and the brightest who make state government more efficient
and effective. Awards are given out in multiple categories with a
total of 50 nominees awarded. The State IT Program of the Year is
given to the best example of influential State and Local IT
programs that have delivered cost savings and superior
