ROME (MF-Dow Jones)--Fiat SpA's (F.MI) Chairman Luca Cordero di
Montezemolo said that if Fiat doesn't take over General Motors
Corp.'s (GMGMQ) German unit Adam Opel Gmbh, there is no European
"plan B".
"There is nothing more to say," said Montezemolo to journalists,
at an antitrust conference in Rome.
Thursday, Italy's Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said that
Fiat's proposal to buy Opel was still on the table.
At the end of May, the German government chose Magna
International Inc.'s (MGA) consortium over Fiat's offer and pledged
to provide EUR1.5 billion in bridge financing to keep the
Ruesselsheim-based auto firm afloat following the bankruptcy filing
of parent GM in the U.S.
