PSA Peugeot Citroën: 10th Best Supplier Awards: Making Supplier Relations a Cornerstone of the Back in the Race Strategic Plan

Yesterday, PSA Peugeot Citroën (Paris:UG) held its Best
Supplier Awards event. Carlos Tavares, Chairman of the Managing
Board, and Yannick Bézard, Executive Vice President, Purchasing,
honoured 18 suppliers for their commitment and the quality of their
responses to the Group’s expectations. The event was an opportunity
to reaffirm the strategic importance of supplier relations as a
fundamental driver of the Back in the Race plan.
Supplier relations are a cornerstone of the Back in the Race
planThe Awards celebrate suppliers who are fully engaged in
their relationship with the Group and who demonstrated the deepest
understanding of its expectations and the most proactive ability to
meet them.Supplier relations are a fundamental driver in deploying
the strategic plan presented by Carlos Tavares last April.
For Mr Tavares, Chairman of the Managing Board of PSA Peugeot
Citroën,“Our Back in the Race plan’s objective of making us more
competitive depends on nurturing strong, sustainable, responsible
relationships with our partner suppliers. By creating value
together, we will develop the sourcing of more competitive
components.”
In recognition of the sustained efforts made and the excellence
of the results delivered, the Group honoured supplier performance
in six priority categories:
- Cost Savings: Faurecia Échappement /
Chongqing Jianshe / BASF
(Ability to propose solutions to reduce the cost of delivered
standard parts, by leveraging the full range of supply chain,
marketing and purchasing drivers).
- Value Creation: KAP IT /
Continental
(Ability to propose breakthrough technical solutions and new
services capable of creating new value).
- Programme Management: TRW /
Magna
(Performance in the areas of quality of deliverables, on-time
delivery, managing cost variances, project management, successful
launches and technical expertise).
- Quality: Yazaki / Bosch (braking) /
Aisin
(Performance in auto parts quality, from “cradle to grave”,
including quality in development, quality when new and quality in
field).
- Indirect Material Machinery &
Equipment: Sugino / Actemium / Acobal
(Service and quality performance in the provision of services
and supply of industrial equipment).
- After-Sales Delivery Performance:
Visscher Caravelle / Gates / Mefro
(Quality of service, as measured by their on-time, on-spec
performance in delivering spare parts to the dealer network).
A new award, for “Best Plants of 2013", was presented to 96
production facilities in in recognition of their performance in
manufacturing excellence, which is enabling the Group to meet its
quality standards, from producing the vehicle to handing over the
keys.
Lastly, a Special Jury Prize was awarded to two suppliers –
IBIDEN and Total Lubricants – that the Group wanted to honour for
their long-standing partnership.
Yannick Bézard, Executive Vice President, Purchasing for PSA
Peugeot Citroën, said“We need our suppliers’ support to lock-in our
Group’s recovery and create value together.”
In 2013, PSA Peugeot Citroën’s purchasing represented a total of
€23.5 billion, of which over €18 billion for standard parts and
components, which account for an average 80% of a vehicle’s sticker
price. The Group works with a panel of 1,436 suppliers and
encourages local sourcing in all of its host communities. The
French automobile plants source more than 50% of their purchases in
France and more than 90% in Europe.
