The U.S. government will begin sharing as many as 60 million
doses from its stockpile of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine with
the rest of the world following a federal safety review,
administration officials said.
The Biden administration has faced growing pressure to share
vaccine doses with developing countries and other nations that have
been hard-hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
One official said the doses will be made available in the coming
months following the review. The AstraZeneca vaccine isn't yet
authorized for use in the U.S.
The announcement was first reported by the Associated Press.
The Biden administration said last month it would share roughly
4 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine with Mexico and
Canada.
