Postponement of Distribution Date 
       
Shareholders of Gencor ("Gencor shareholders") are referred to the circular to
Gencor shareholders dated 9 March 2000 concerning, inter alia, the
distribution by Gencor of its holdings of listed shares in Gold Fields
Limited, Gold Fields of South Africa Limited and Standard Bank Investment
Corporation Limited to ordinary shareholders, by way of a dividend in specie
(the "distribution"), in terms of section 60 of the Income Tax Act, 1993 (No
113 of 1993), (the "unbundling legislation"). 
As stated in the circular, the record date for Gencor shareholders to be
registered as such in order to participate in the distribution was 16:00 on
Friday, 31 March 2000, (the "record date") and the distribution was due to
take place on or about Monday, 3 April 2000, subject to the Commissioner of
the South African Revenue Service approving the distribution as an unbundling
transaction in terms of the unbundling legislation. As at 12:30 today, Friday,
31 March 2000, the terms of the approval have not been finalised and
accordingly, both the record date and the date of the distribution have been
postponed until further notice. Gencor shareholders will be notified in due
course regarding the revised record and distribution date, if and when the
approval is received.
