Average underlying sales: up 3.7% (up 3.4% in 3Q 2009) 
 

Note: a modest acceleration in underlying sales growth is expected, boosted by a recovery in pricing. However the second half is expected to be tougher, with cost inflation returning and price rises effectively restricted. The underlying sales measure - which strip out acquisitions, disposals and currency movements - is closely watched because it's a directly comparable measure of how the company's products are selling.
