LONDON--Publishing and education company Pearson PLC (PSON.LN) said Wednesday that Penguin, its consumer publishing business, reached an agreement with the U.S. State Attorneys General and private class plaintiffs to pay 75 million dollars in consumer damages, plus costs and fees, to resolve all antitrust claims relating to eBook pricing.

MAIN FACTS:

-Also commits to abide by the same injunctive relief as previously agreed in a settlement with the Department of Justice.

-Pearson had made a $40 million provision for settlement in its 2012 accounts

-An incremental charge will be expensed in Pearson's 2013 statutory accounts as part of the accounting for the Penguin Random House joint-venture

-Shares at 1307 GMT up 5 pence or 0.4% 1,367 pence valuing the company at GBP10.3 billion.
