President Barack Obama will address the annual meeting of the Business Council, an influential corporate group, on May 4 to discuss his efforts to spur job creation and rebuild the economy, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said in a statement Thursday.

In addition to Obama, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and Office of Management and Budget Director Peter R. Orszag will address the council that week in Washington.

The Business Council's members include chief executives from a broad array of industries and companies, such as Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (FCX), Cardinal Health Inc. (CAH) and Goldman Sachs Groups Inc. (GS).

Obama will also address the important role that businesses play in fighting to get people back to work, Gibbs said in a statement.
