Trinity Industries Inc. (TRN) said it named E. Jean Savage as chief executive and president.

Ms. Savage has served as a member of Trinity's board since November 2018, the rail transportation products and services company said. She most recently spent 17 years at Caterpillar Inc. (CAT). Since 2017, she has served as vice president of the surface mining & technology division of Caterpillar.

Trinity in September said Timothy R. Wallace had decided to retire as CEO and president.

Caterpillar said Wednesday that Ms. Savage would leave the company on Feb. 14, and it would name a new executive at a later date.
