Colorado Information Sharing Consortium Launches Website Delivering On-demand Information to Law Enforcement and Vendors

The Colorado Information Sharing Consortium’s (CISC) mission
ensures that nearly 9,000 officers from its 58-member agencies have
access to the data they need to solve crimes—from their office
desktops to their police cars—24/7. With the launch of its first
website, the CISC continues to efficiently deliver on its mission.
Ultimately, the organization’s secure, reliable and affordable data
connects Colorado agencies with national counterparts to make
communities safer.
“Our website gives the CISC an opportunity to communicate with
law enforcement agencies about news and meetings at their
convenience, instead of us bombarding them with emails,” said CISC
Executive Director and retired Adams County Commander, David
Shipley. “Any time the law enforcement community can glance at
online resources to find something they need instead of making
phone calls or sending emails, it's better for them. It helps them
be more efficient and stay focused on meeting citizens’ needs."
To ensure the focus, Shipley turned to Colorado Interactive (CI)
and the Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA) to produce the
CISC’s new website. CI provides digital government services to
state agencies, local governments and educational entities through
a contract with SIPA—the official internet portal connecting the
public with Colorado government. The partnership’s mission allows
government leaders to focus on delivering on-demand, digital
government solutions without requests for proposals or the use of
tax appropriations. The CI/SIPA partnership has benefitted more
than 60 special districts in Colorado.
Vendors make up another key group benefitting from the CISC’s
website. To work with the organization, vendors must accommodate
conditions set by the CISC Board of Directors. “I regularly meet
vendors who want to work with CISC agencies, but don’t understand
our unique needs,” explained Shipley. “I needed the ability to
direct them to a website that contains the Board’s conditions for
participating vendors. It saves everyone time. After reviewing the
conditions, vendors know if they can work within our expectations.
If they can, we’re happy to talk with each one.” In addition, after
vendors sign contracts, the CISC utilizes the website to promote
them and provide links to their services.
“Whether it’s law enforcement officials who rely on the data or
the vendors who support it, we know how important the CISC’s work
is to keeping communities safe,” said Colorado Interactive’s
President and General Manager, Fred Sargeson. “I’m proud that our
partnership with CISC allows them to stay focused on their critical
mission.”
Eligible government entities in need of free website development
and hosting as well as payment processing through the Colorado.gov
Web portal, should contact SIPA.
