3D printing: Groupe Gorgé Acquires a Leading Materials Company

Business Wire
Groupe Gorgé and the German and American shareholders of
DeltaMed have agreed the acquisition by Groupe Gorgé of 100% of the
capital of DeltaMed GmbH. DeltaMed mainly develops photosensitive
resins. The company was acquired directly by Groupe Gorgé through a
subsidiary formed for the purpose, which will eventually bring
together all the group’s 3D printing activities, starting with
Prodways.
A leading player in 3D printing materials
DeltaMed has been developing photosensitive products for medical
and industrial uses, especially in the dental and hearing aid
sectors, for over fifteen years. DeltaMed has particular expertise
in the field of development of photosensitive resins for additive
manufacturing applications.
The company currently supplies resins to several leading
manufacturers of 3D printing machines, providing development,
certification and production services. DeltaMed can call on:
- recognized R&D teams which have
developed four ranges of resins with different features for 3D
printing (hearing aid, dental, casting, technical), used in a total
of 30 different products;
- a quality management system to fulfil
all necessary requirements to market medical devices in the
European Union, the United States of America, Canada and other
countries ;
- a production process designed for
manufacturing products in compliance with the most stringent
standards. It is not yet running at full capacity and can produce
up to 50 tons of resin per year.
A major step in the Group’s development plan for 3D
printing
Through its subsidiary Prodways, Gorgé Group today has the most
efficient 3D printing machines for a certain number of
applications. However, the supply of materials was too limited to
offer each customer the specific machine-material combination that
best suited each application. This strategic acquisition will
largely meet this need.
Vertical integration, up to the production of specific resins
internally, makes it possible to master and capture the whole of
the value created by the machine-material combination for the
applications developed by the Group.
Looking beyond the Group's own needs, DeltaMed will continue to
supply resins to other companies in the industry with the aim of
strengthening its position as a leading player in this
high-potential field.
