Wirecard AG has named a chief compliance officer and reshuffled
the responsibilities of its top management members, it said
Friday.
The German payments company said James H. Freis will take up the
newly created post from July 1, and will run the company's
"integrity, legal and compliance" department.
The appointment comes following an independent audit
commissioned by Wirecard into allegations of accounting impropriety
at the company, which were first raised by a series of Financial
Times reports.
Wirecard will extend its executive board by two additional
seats, and will create a chief commercial officer role to run a new
sales department. The chief operating officer's duties will be
reorganized and placed under new management, Wirecard said. The COO
position will now also include responsibility for the group's North
and South America businesses, the company said.
Wirecard also reshuffled the responsibilities of the members of
its management board. The company's chief executive, Markus Braun,
will focus on the strategic development of the company. The
company's finance chief Alexander von Knoop will take charge of
capital market communications. Jan Marsalek will be chief business
development officer, Wirecard said.
