Telefonica SA is keeping a stable dividend after swinging to a net profit and posting higher revenue for the fourth quarter.

The Spanish telecommunication company on Thursday reported revenue of 10.20 billion euros ($10.82 billion), up from EUR9.67 billion in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Quarterly net profit came in at EUR525 million compared with a loss of EUR1.20 billion the previous year. Operating income before depreciation and amortization--a key profitability metric--climbed to EUR3.26 billion from EUR1.36 billion, generating a margin of 31.9%.

Analysts had forecast revenue of EUR10.09 billion, a net profit of EUR488 million and Oibda of EUR3.28 billion on a 32.5% margin, according to a company-provided consensus.

Telefonica said it would propose a dividend of EUR0.30 a share for 2022, the same that it paid for the previous year. It also declared the same dividend for 2023.

"We will remain disciplined on capital allocation and prioritize our investments into differentiated connectivity projects," Chief Executive Jose Maria Alvarez-Pallete said.

For 2023, the company is targeting low single-digit organic growth for revenue and Oibda.
