Regal Beloit Advocates Energy-Efficient Motor Rebate Program Outlined in U.S. Senate Energy Bill

PR Newswire (US)
BELOIT, Wis., April 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Regal Beloit
Corporation (NYSE:RBC), a global leader of industrial, commercial
and HVAC/R energy efficient motors, applauds the U.S. Senate Energy
and Natural Resources Committee for approving an energy-efficient
motor rebate program. If enacted into law, the legislation,
introduced by Senator Blanche Lincoln, would create a new
energy-efficient motor rebate program for the purchase of NEMA
Premium(R) efficiency electric motors. The rebate program is
designed to help offset the cost difference between new, more
efficient NEMA Premium(R) motors and the cost of less efficient
motors when replacing existing motors. Specifically, this program
would provide a $25 per horsepower rebate for the purchase of NEMA
Premium(R) motors, as well as a $5 per horsepower rebate for the
disposal of the old, inefficient motor. Mike Wickiser, Senior Group
Vice President of Regal Beloit said, "This important piece of
legislation would give motor customers the incentive to purchase
new, more efficient NEMA Premium(R) motors instead of continuing to
operate older, less efficient ones." He continued, "Under the
proposed rebate program, an operations manager could replace an
existing, fully functioning less efficient motor with a new NEMA
Premium efficiency motor and get a payback of costs in less than
two years. If the operations manager is replacing a failed less
efficient motor with a new NEMA Premium efficiency motor, the
payback is almost immediate with the rebate program." Wickiser
pointed out, "The ultimate purpose of this legislation is the
reduction of energy consumption and, in the long run, these types
of efforts will help to strengthen our economy. Regal Beloit offers
a full line of NEMA Premium(R) energy efficient motors specifically
designed for the commercial and industrial market." Regal Beloit
Corporation is a leading manufacturer of electrical and mechanical
motion control and power generation products serving markets
throughout the world. Regal Beloit is headquartered in Beloit,
Wisconsin, and has manufacturing, sales, and service facilities
