Thanks to its solid manufacturing base in France, PSA Peugeot
Citroën (Paris:UG) has once again made a positive contribution to
France's trade balance, with a surplus of €4.721 billion* and a net
export volume of 310,000 vehicles. Representing a 5.3% increase on
2013, this performance ranks PSA Peugeot Citroën as the country's
third leading exporter.
With more than 971,000 vehicles produced in France in 2014, PSA
Peugeot Citroën is on track to meet its commitment under the New
Social Contract with French trade unions to produce one million
vehicles in France in 2016.
To keep its strong manufacturing base in France, PSA Peugeot
Citroën has undertaken an ambitious plant modernisation project,
which involves optimising logistics, making facilities more compact
and streamlining processes, in order to improve overall production
efficiency.
"The PSA Back in the Race plan is important for the company, its
employees and its shareholders, but it's also important for France
because PSA is a major player in the economy," said Carlos Tavares,
Chairman of the PSA Peugeot Citroën Managing Board. "This is why
we're dedicated to boosting the competitiveness of our plants in
France, every single day."
