Hutchinson partners with INA to bring website
into mobile age
Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, in
partnership with the Information Network of Arkansas, recently
launched a new place-based website that gives the old saying, “all
politics is local,” a whole new meaning in the mobile age.
Governor.Arkansas.gov uses geolocation to determine where a
visitor is in the state and delivers relevant content based on
their location. The home page displays the name and one of several
crowd-sourced photos of their city. An interactive map shows nearby
places the governor has visited and where he is scheduled to go.
Press releases announcing news in the visitor’s city or region are
served first. Visitors can change the location by tapping the
city’s name and entering a different one.
“We are proud to partner with Governor Hutchinson’s
administration and launch the most progressive and useful
governor’s website in the country,” INA General Manager Bob Sanders
said. “This site is the latest example of how INA is using digital
technology to connect Arkansans to their government in meaningful
ways.”
Beyond localization, the site boasts several new interactive
features that help citizens keep track of what Governor Hutchinson
is doing and how he’s delivering on his campaign promises. Four
blue circles on the home page show a running total of metrics,
including “Jobs Created,” “Businesses Created or Expanded,” “Taxes
Cut” and “Promises Kept.” Visitors can click on each number for
more details. The governor’s innovative Computer Science Initiative
is prominently featured with videos, games and mobile apps that
teach coding, and links to other resources.
INA also designed websites for former governors Mike Huckabee
and Mike Beebe. Governor Hutchinson’s website was developed at no
cost to the state through INA’s self-funded model that places a
minimal efficiency fee on a select number of high-volume business
services in order to provide eGovernment services statewide.
