Mobile-friendly secure payment system brings
convenience to citizens
Paying property taxes in Baxter County just got a lot easier
thanks to a new online payment system offered by Baxter County Tax
Collector Teresa Smith. Residents can visit ar.gov/baxterproptax
and enter a taxpayer number to begin. The system will prompt
residents through secure payment screens and quickly provide a
payment confirmation, and a receipt for taxpayer records. The
payment system will also work on a mobile phone.
“It’s a great step forward to be able to offer this option to
pay taxes online,” said Smith. “With today’s technology, folks
should not have to be hassled with standing in line at the
Collector’s office or mailing in their payments. This system lets
you use either a credit card, debit card or eCheck, so you can
decide when and how you want to pay.”
Smith said taxpayers can also sign up for a service called
eNotify when paying their tax bill online. After registering,
eNotify will alert taxpayers by email when their statements are
ready, saving the county the costs of paper, postage and manpower
used in mailing out forms.
The Baxter County Tax Collector partnered with the state’s
eGovernment service provider, Information Network of Arkansas
(INA), to develop both the eNotify registration and secure payment
system to ensure privacy, security and data integrity. Credit card
transactions include a processing fee to cover the cost of the
system, which INA developed for the county free of charge.
Baxter County personal property and real estate taxes are due
March 1 and must be paid before October 15. Smith reminded citizens
that tax bills will be coming out soon. “Once you are ready to pay
your taxes, just visit our site, take care of your payment, and
don’t worry about property taxes again until next year.”
Baxter County residents may connect online through live chat
