Dell is powering the production team behind PBS’ Austin City
Limits — and empowering music lovers everywhere to experience the
legendary music program live. Following last years’ live streaming
production of several U.S. summer festivals, Dell is extending its
presence in the music world through a brick-and-mortar destination,
ACL Live at The Moody Theater, now home of the long-running Austin
City Limits. As part of a multi-year sponsorship, Dell is creating
customized, end-to-end solutions for the venue with a breadth of
technology, aiding the producers, stage managers and many
creative professionals who extend the Austin City Limits music
experience to fans worldwide.
“When we first met with the producers of Austin City Limits, we
asked them to imagine a perfect studio from the ground up,” said
Beau Armstrong, CEO of Stratus Properties and developer of the
innovative Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater. “Today, I
am proud to say that ACL Live is one of the most technically
advanced live music venues and television production studios
anywhere. Partners like Dell ensure that as we move forward we will
continue to be among the most innovative live music venues in the
world.”
Along with digital infrastructure, Dell Precision workstations
and PowerEdge servers power the Austin City Limits live streams
that launched earlier this year. To date, during the program’s 39th
year, Dell technology has helped live stream studio tapings of
artists such as The Lumineers, Shovels & Rope, Jim James, and
will live stream worldwide tonight’s studio taping of Juanes.
Additional tapings confirmed this year include Michael Kiwanuka
(June 10), Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell (June 14), Jesse y
Joy (June 17) and Emeli Sandé (July 7). Acts already recorded
this year include Phoenix, Grizzly Bear and Vampire Weekend, all to
appear when the new series debuts this fall.
General Manager of Austin City Limits Tom Gimbel shared: “We are
so excited that Dell has partnered with Austin City Limits to bring
a whole new experience to our fans. This season for the first time,
people everywhere can experience the excitement of Austin City
Limits taping from their laptop or hand held device. Austinites
know firsthand how hard it is to get a ticket to an ACL taping, now
fans worldwide can see what our cameras are capturing and engage
through social media with other fans in the moment.”
“This partnership is a great example of Dell’s continued
commitment to bring an interactive live music experience to fans
around the world,” said Bryan Jones vice president of North America
Marketing for Dell. “By partnering with the ACL Live at The Moody
Theater and the Austin City Limits TV production team, we have
customized an end-to-end technology solution that enables them to
be at the forefront of media and entertainment innovation.”
Dell today also announced the global launch of ACL Access. With
the ACL Access app, music fans can enjoy deeper access to years of
Austin City Limits programming and provide other exclusive benefits
like behind-the-scenes content, and artist interviews. This app,
powered by Austin based company Rockify, is currently available in
the Dell Windows 8 App Store.
