               Verizon Communications Declares Quarterly Dividend               

 

NEW YORK - The Board of Directors of Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) today
declared a quarterly dividend of 43 cents per outstanding share, unchanged from
the previous quarter. The dividend is payable on Feb. 1, 2008, to Verizon
Communications shareowners of record at the close of business on Jan. 10, 2008.

Verizon has approximately 2.4 million shareowners and approximately 2.9 billion
shares of common stock outstanding. The company made $3.5 billion in dividend
payments through the first three quarters of 2007, and in September it announced
a quarterly dividend increase of 6.2 percent to the current 43 cents per share.
