TNT TO PROVIDE LOGISTICS FOR COMPAQ SPARE PARTS IN EUROPE, THE MIDDLE EAST AND
AFRICA. 

Compaq spare Parts intends to transfer its logistics activities in Europe, the
Middle East and Africa to TNT, in a contract worth 500 million guilders.  The
contract is due to be signed in early 2000. The activities undertaken by TNT
will span the whole supply chain, from stock management to transport and
storage. 

The current infrastructure will undergo certain changes, notably the number of
forward stock locations will be reduced from 140 to 90 and this network will be
made accessible to other operators.  The intended deal also includes the
construction of a new central distribution centre that will serve 31 countries
on three continents.

The new distribution centre will be located in the east of the Netherlands on a
20,000 m2 site and will provide work to about 125 staff.  The network of forward
stock locations will be served from the central distribution centre, which is
expected to handle about 2 million service orders per year.  The forward stock
locations in the 31 countries will handle a total of 5 million service orders
and will become operational upon completion of the transfer of activities, which
is planned for the first half of 2000.
