Irish Life & Permanent Group Holdings plc has commenced the process for the sale of its life assurance, fund management, brokerage, third party administration and associate general insurance businesses (the "Life Group"). Accordingly these businesses are accounted for as "discontinued activities" in the financial statements of IL&PGH.

At the same time as the release of the 2011 Half Year Report for IL&PGH the financial statements of the Life Group for each of the three years to 31 December 2010 and for the six months to 30 June 2011have been separately published. These non-statutory consolidated financial statements have been prepared for the purposes of the disposal of the Life Group. The statements have been prepared in accordance with IFRS and also include Embedded Value basis supplementary information in respect of each of the periods covered. They are available on the group's web site along with the IL&PGH 2011 Half Year Report at www.irishlifepermanent.ie .
