Germany's Finance Minister Peer Steinbrueck expressed skepticism
about state aid for Opel, the General Motors Corp. (GM) unit,
according to Die Welt, quoting comments he made on a German
television show late Monday.
Steinbrueck indicated that Opel still lacks a feasible rescue
plan and he worried that any German state aid would wind up in the
U.S. Further, he said it was uncertain how Opel would free itself
from dependence on aid.
However, he declined to rule out the possibility of state aid
yet, saying Opel needs to present a restructuring plan.
