BARCELONA--U.K.-based publisher Pearson PLC (PSO) said Wednesday
it has no plans to sell its flagship newspaper the Financial
Times.
"There is no change on that front," financial chief Robin
Freestone said when asked about a possible sale.
"The Financial Times is a valuable asset" and " something we are
very proud of," he added.
Rumors of a sale have circulated for years and speculation has
increased since news broke last month that Chief Executive Marjorie
Scardino will stand down at the end of the year. Ms. Scardino has
long championed the Financial Times as a cornerstone of the
company.
Mr Freestone was speaking at the Morgan Stanley TMT conference
in Barcelona.
