ST. LOUIS, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Patriot Coal Corporation (NYSE:PCX) today announced that James N. Magro has been named to the newly created position of Senior Vice President of Underground Mining, reporting to Paul H. Vining, President & Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Magro has more than 35 years of experience overseeing longwall, continuous miner, truck-and-shovel, and highwall mining operations in multiple coal basins, including Central Appalachia, Northern Appalachia, the Illinois Basin, and the Uinta Basin in Utah. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Operations at CONSOL Energy Inc. "We are very pleased to welcome Jim to the Patriot team. Reporting to Magro will be Gregory A. Boggs, Operations Manager of the Panther complex, J. Blair McGill, Vice President & General Manager of the Federal complex, and Bruce Short, Operations Manager of the Company's Valley Operations. Magro holds a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from West Virginia University.
