Marconi and Allot Communications Partner for Delivery of Traffic Management and Analysis Services

Partnership empowers service providers with deep packet inspection,
network monitoring and enforcement tools across business and
consumer networks LAS VEGAS, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
(TELECOM '05) -- Marconi Corporation plc (LONDON: MONI and Nasdaq:
MRCIY) and Allot Communications today announced a partnership in
which Marconi will jointly market Allot's NetEnforcer(R) family of
network monitoring, traffic and subscriber control applications.
Allot Communications is the industry's leading provider of high-
performance traffic and service management solutions. Utilizing
advanced deep packet inspection (DPI) technology, Allot's
award-winning NetEnforcer traffic management solution allows
carriers, internet service providers and cable operators to monitor
and control network behavior at the subscriber and/or application
level, enabling premium IP services, streamlining converged network
traffic and protecting the network from malicious security threats.
"Our partnership with Allot Communications provides us with a key
application to tackle some of the biggest problems facing service
providers today, such as understanding the composition of network
traffic, while ensuring that key services receive the bandwidth and
priority they require," said Dave Bifulco, director of IP business
development for Marconi. "For both business and consumer broadband
environments, applications that generate key revenue (such as
voice, video and online gaming) can be protected against other
applications that swamp the network with less profitable traffic.
The latest traffic management capabilities within Allot's
NetEnforcer provide broadband operators with a powerful tool for
taking back control of their networks." Marconi and Allot
Communications also see Marconi's Dynamic Services Blade as a
platform for the delivery of the NetEnforcer traffic management
application. Marconi's Dynamic Services Blade, an integrated
standards-based module for the Marconi Service Router, allows
hosted service applications in a completely open standard Linux
operating environment. The Marconi Service Router enables service
providers to "virtualize" their networks by centralizing
distributed resources on a single device, resulting in a number of
benefits, including lower capital and operational expenditures,
easier upgrades, streamlined management and faster service rollout.
"Next-generation network architectures will require more than just
cost management; for example, they require specific ways of
controlling operational costs and creating linkages to the
applications that will drive revenues," said Tom Nolle, president
of CIMI Corp, a leading U.S. telecoms consultancy. "Marconi has a
truly unique approach to IP service networks - one that facilitates
both new services and evolving higher-layer applications." "The
Marconi Service Router is an ideal concept for delivering the
NetEnforcer capabilities," said Azi Ronen, EVP of corporate
development for Allot Communications. "It enables the NetEnforcer
service and traffic control application to be cost-effectively
offered to service providers in a secure, virtually routed
environment." About TELECOM '05 Held in the Venetian Conference
