Cabell County Sheriff Office provides new ways
of reporting suspicious activity from your mobile phone
Having the ability to provide law enforcement with detailed
information is key to keeping crime out of Cabell County
communities. The new Cabell County Crime Tips App does just that by
allowing individuals who witness suspicious activity to quickly
report it to the Cabell County Sheriff’s office using their iPhone
or Android device. Information on the app, which works on devices
running iOS or Android operating systems, can be found at
http://www.cabellcountysheriff.com/.
“We are very excited about this app,” said Cabell County Sheriff
Tom McComas. “Our community plays a large part in keeping our
streets safe. Giving them the ability to provide us with detailed
information along with a photo makes this app an invaluable tool
when responding to a report of suspicious activity.”
The Cabell County Crime Tip was specifically created to send
information, including photos and text, to the Cabell County
Sheriff’s office which allows for quicker response times and more
accurate reports.
This free application allows users to:
- Specify the type of suspicious
activity
- Report detailed subject and vehicle
descriptions
- Automatically find and use their
location to enter an address
- Capture a picture using the app or use
one already on their device
- Include their own contact information
or remain anonymous if preferred
The application is not intended for emergency purposes and you
are encouraged to dial 911 or your local police department in the
event of an emergency.
The new Cabell County Sheriff Crime Tip Application was
developed at no cost to the Cabell County Sheriff’s office through
the state’s self-funded electronic government program, WV.gov.
