State offers online registration system, adds new regulations for the 2014 season

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announces the opening of Alligator Hunt Registration for the 2014 alligator season. Registration is open from 8 a.m. on June 3, until 8 a.m. on July 8. The hunt is open to Alabama residents or those with an Alabama lifetime hunting license.

Registrants will be randomly drawn by computer in order to be eligible for an Alligator Possession tag. Selection of hunters and alternates will be posted after 12 p.m. on July 8 and registrants can view their results for the drawing by visiting https://gatorhunt.dcnr.alabama.gov.

Acceptance is required by 8 a.m. on July 15. If a tag is not accepted, the next name on the list will be notified and given 24 hours to respond until all vacancies have been obligated.

One major change for the 2014 season that registrants need to be aware of is that they may only register once for each of the three hunting areas offered in Alabama. Pricing is set at $22 per registration zone. Hunters must have a valid resident hunting license, which can be purchased online, and must also have a valid driver’s license.
