Texas.gov, the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC), and the Texas
Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) are making it easier than ever
for Texans to support Texas veterans. With 1.6 million veterans
living in Texas, the demand for services that benefit veterans and
their families is significant. In recognition of this need, the
TVC’s Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) program offers these
online donation options, with secure payment processing provided by
Texas.gov:
- TVC’s “Keep the Wheels Turning”
campaign lets Texans make a quick, tax-deductible donation when
it’s time to renew a vehicle registration.
- Even if it’s not time to renew a
vehicle registration, there’s no need to wait. Texans can go
directly to the FVA’s online donation application to
contribute.
These donations support grants to charitable organizations,
local governments, and Veteran Service Organizations that provide
direct services to Texas veterans at the community level. Since its
launch in 2009, the FVA program has awarded almost $30 million to
100+ organizations for 145 grants that have benefitted nearly
150,000 Texas veterans and their families.
With Veterans Day celebrations occurring across the state next
week, Texas.gov encourages all Texans to show their support with a
donation that will fund services including housing assistance for
homeless veterans, short-term financial assistance, family and
child services, legal assistance, counseling for post-traumatic
stress, and more.
