Wi-Lan Inc. (WIN.T, WILN) on Tuesday said it settled patent cases with Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ) and Novatel Wireless Inc. (NVTL), bringing an end to litigation initiated in 2011.

Under the agreement, H-P and Novatel were granted licenses related to certain Wi-Lan patents. H-P was also granted licenses to certain of its products. Financial terms of the settlements were not disclosed.

Wi-Lan, a patent-licensing firm, sued H-P, Novatel, Apple Inc. (AAPL), Alcatel-Lucent (ALU, ALU.FR) and Dell Inc. (DELL) in 2011 over alleged patent infringement related to mobile- communications technology.

HTC Corp. (2498.TW) and Sierra Wireless Inc. (SW.T, SWIR), which were also defendants in the suit, reached settlements with Wi-Lan in September and earlier this month, respectively.

The trial had been scheduled to begin this month, according to a press release from Wi-Lan earlier this year.

Wi-Lan shares were inactive premarket at $4.14. The stock is up 31% since mid-July.
