                          Statement Re: Press Comment

Following articles which appeared in the press over the weekend, the Company 
confirms that it is trading within its overdraft limit and has the support of 
its bankers, Barclays.

Further, the Board of Southampton confirms that it remains in discussions with 
certain third parties in relation to an investment in or possible offer for the 
Company.  There is no certainty that any such offer or investment will be made. 
Further announcements will be made in due course as and when necessary.
