ORB ESTATES PLC ("ORB") - OFFER FOR ALBEMARLE PROPERTY
INVESTMENTS PLC ("ALBEMARLE")


The directors of Orb are pleased to announce that, as at the close of business
on Monday 9 August, acceptances in respect of 119,101,129 shares in Albemarle,
representing 53.49 per cent of the voting share capital of Albemarle, had been
received.


Prior to the commencement of the offer period Orb owned, and still owns,
13,509,911 ordinary shares of Albemarle representing 6.1 per cent of Albemarle's
voting share capital.  Other than pursuant to the offer for Albemarle, Orb has
not agreed to acquire or acquired any Albemarle shares during the offer period.


Accordingly, the offer has been declared unconditional in all respects and
remains open for the receipt of further acceptances.
