Odyssey application for smartphones

Avia (AIM: AVIA), the AIM-listed developer and provider of clinical decision support systems, is pleased to announce the development of its Odyssey SelfAssess product into an application for smartphones. Odyssey SelfAssess uses the extensive and proven clinical content developed for clinician use, and adapts it to allow patients to assess their own symptoms prior to consultation with clinical services.

Avia's wholly owned subsidiary Plain Healthcare Limited, which handles development of the Odyssey product range, has now created an application to offer Odyssey SelfAssess on Windows 7 and Android smartphones. This is also due to be expanded to cover BlackBerry and iPhone platforms.

The Odyssey SelfAssess application can be hosted in the cloud and delivered via 3G and broadband. Initially it will be offered to the occupational health market and is expected to be used in particular for absence management and employee health and wellbeing.

This means that Odyssey SelfAssess will soon be available to anyone with a smartphone or web access to carry out self-assessment of their own condition or to assess a third party's illness or injury.
