Ohioans Join Campaign and Trigger Thousands of Meal Donations to
Feed the Hungry ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., July 25
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ohio is famous for buckeyes, carnations
and its love of the official state rock song -- "Hang on Sloopy."
It is also filled with kind, caring people who are making a
difference by simply sharing a story. In fact, thousands of Ohioans
have told their stories of sharing on
http://www.spreadthesharing.com/ and in doing so, have helped to
feed families in need. With each story shared on the site, a
meal(1) is provided to a hungry family through America's Second
Harvest - The Nation's Food Bank Network. Sponsored by Shedd's
Country Crock(R), the campaign challenges Americans to share one
million sharing stories by Thanksgiving 2007. To date, more than
275,000 meals have been donated. From baking cookies for a neighbor
to bringing flowers to a friend, Ohioans across the state celebrate
the power of sharing. Some of the stories include caring folks like
M.J. from Cleveland. When she was a struggling student, a dear
friend came over with all the ingredients for a delicious meal.
They cooked, ate together and shared memories until the wee hours
of the morning. Stephanie and a friend from Dayton provided
groceries for a large family with foster children. The family was
grateful and enjoyed the comfort of the simple gesture. Other
sharing stories from Ohio include the gift of time, talents and
special abilities. In Warren, Andrew and his family organized a
group of friends to paint a local house whose owners weren't able
to paint it themselves. He said, "It was great doing something that
made our community look better ... all in all, it was a great way
to spend an afternoon!" Arlene, in Cincinnati witnessed a friend
share his warm winter coat with a stranger in need. He freely gave
his coat and some kind words to make the man's day warmer in so
many ways. These and other acts of sharing posted on the sharing
web site not only have a positive impact in communities across Ohio
but also help feed families at risk nationwide. Like Andrew,
Stephanie and their fellow Ohioans, there are countless others
across the country who have shared inspirational stories and are
making a difference in their communities. To share your story and
help feed a family in need, simply visit Spread The Sharing at
http://www.spreadthesharing.com/ and help Country Crock donate up
to one million meals by Thanksgiving 2007. (1) For every shared
story, Country Crock(R) will donate the equivalent amount to secure
and distribute one meal (1.28 pounds of food according to the USDA
Thrifty Food Plan), up to one million meals. About Unilever
