LONDON, May 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tate & Lyle PLC (TATYY) announces today that Simon Gifford will retire as Group Finance Director and from the Board of Tate & Lyle PLC at the close of the Annual General Meeting on July 19, 2006. Simon has worked for Tate & Lyle since 1969 and has served on the Board and as Group Finance Director since January 1996. To ensure a smooth handover to his successor, Simon will remain with the Company until October 1, 2006, his contractual retirement date. Tate & Lyle also announces today that John Nicholas, 49, formerly Group Finance Director of Kidde Plc, will join the Company on June 1, 2006 and has been appointed Group Finance Director and a member of the Board of Tate & Lyle PLC from the close of the Annual General Meeting on July 19, 2006.
