--Toronto-Dominion Bank, a Canadian bank that's been expanding through acquisitions, is considering a deal for the brokerage firm Cowen Inc., Bloomberg reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

--The Toronto-based bank is working with advisers to study a possible acquisition, according to the report.

--No decision has been made, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.

--Representatives of TD and Cowen could not be immediately reached for comment by Bloomberg, according to the report.

Representatives also did not immediately return requests for comment to Dow Jones Newswires.

Shares of Cowen are up 18% in after-hours trading.
