The European Commission Friday extended the deadline for its antitrust review of Anglo-Dutch consumer goods giant Unilever PLC's (ULVR.LN) EUR1.28 billion acquisition of Sara Lee Corp.'s (SLE) personal care unit by 13 working days.

It will now make its decision by Oct. 22, from Oct. 5 previously, according to its Web site.

The commission launched an in-depth inquiry into the proposed acquisition in June after an initial market inquiry revealed potential antitrust concerns on a number of products including deodorants and fabric care.
