OTTAWA, Ontario, July 18, 2011 /CNW/ -- System will provide
improved data analysis capability Pearson, the global leader in
education technology and services, announced today that the Ottawa
Catholic District School Board has selected PowerSchool as its new
web-based student information system (SIS). PowerSchool will serve
Ottawa Catholic District's more than 37,000 students. "What set
PowerSchool apart from the competition was the web-based integrated
system that really focused on improved access to data for our staff
and the improved communication options for our administrators and
parental community," said Tom D'Amico, Superintendent of Student
Success - Learning Technologies. "PowerSchool was a natural
selection for our Board as it aligned well with our 21st Century
Learning and Teaching priority." The Ottawa Catholic District
selected PowerSchool as its comprehensive SIS because the new
student information system will give the district an opportunity to
integrate their processes with a true web-based solution. The
District also based its decision on the long-term cost savings of
selecting PowerSchool. "PowerSchool provides our Board with an
integrated, full-service, innovative technology that will allow us
to focus on student achievement," D'Amico said. "The Ottawa
District also favored PowerSchool because of the richness of the
program, the opportunity it provides for integration, and the
flexibility it offers for customization," said Aster Laleman,
Strategic Accounts Manager for the School Systems group of Pearson.
PowerSchool will serve as the information backbone for the Ottawa
Catholic District. Through its robust set of communication tools,
PowerSchool will provide access to secure, real-time student
information through a web browser. This will create an interactive
dialogue between parents, students, and teachers. Additional
features, such as master scheduling and reporting tools, will lend
substantial efficiencies to the district. "With the right
technology infrastructure, educators can make timely, strategic
decisions about student performance based on quick and easy access
to data," said Paul Fletcher, president of the School Systems group
of Pearson. "By selecting PowerSchool now, the Ottawa Catholic
District can create an open, integrated solution that enables the
district to adapt to the ever-evolving technology landscape of the
21st century." The Ottawa Catholic District expects to complete the
implementation of PowerSchool for all of its schools by the summer
of 2012. For more information on PowerSchool, visit:
