Sharecare announced today that it has partnered with the Emmy
award-winning, nationally syndicated "The Dr. Oz Show" and Weight
Watchers to power Dr. Oz's Transformation Nation: Million Dollar
You, an unprecedented online health challenge. Launched today on
"The Dr. Oz Show," the integrated television/online contest is the
largest of its kind and is designed to motivate all Americans to
take charge of their health.
Dr. Oz's Transformation Nation: Million Dollar You was created
to start a nationwide health movement to help guide Americans
through seven simple steps that can positively transform their
lifestyles. The show's interactive contest will be provided by the
show on Sharecare's dynamic online healthcare platform, which also
gives participants access to trusted health and wellness
information, helpful tools, and real-time community interaction
with other contest participants and thousands of health experts
including physicians, nurses and trainers designed to help
Americans live their healthiest life.
"We are incredibly proud to be a part of 'The Dr. Oz Show's'
Transformation Nation: Million Dollar You contest as it truly
reflects our mission to give individuals the expert information and
access to empower themselves to get healthy and decrease their risk
for developing life-threatening chronic diseases," said Jeff
Arnold, chairman and chief architect of Sharecare. "The power of
Sharecare's extensive tools and global health resources, coupled
with the expertise of Dr. Oz and Weight Watchers, will be fully
optimized to help people move from getting accurate information to
taking the right actions to transform their lives."
By completing the contest requirements and encouraging friends
and family to sign up for the contest on www.DoctorOz.com,
participants will be entered for a chance to win a $1 million
prize. The seven steps that need to be completed in order to be
eligible for the prize include: weighing in with Weight Watchers
and calculating your BMI, finding out your family's health history,
getting more sleep, assessing your stress, adding fitness to your
life, connecting with your doctor and learning how support from
friends is the key to success. Semi-finalists will be chosen, and
then a panel of judges will narrow it down to 10 finalists,
culminating in a final vote by viewers of "The Dr. Oz Show."
"I have been saying for years that we need to make it easy for
you to do the right thing, and now we have," said host Mehmet Oz,
M.D. "Every person has the right to look and feel like a million
bucks, so we decided we would make a million dollars available as
motivation. The great news is that even if you don't win the cash,
you still win in the long run by losing weight and getting
healthier."
Sharecare will be presenting Dr. Oz's Transformation Nation:
Million Dollar You at the 2011 Health 2.0 conference during their
"Sharecare Deep Dive" presentation on Tuesday, September 27th.
