Colorado National Monument launches “Your Pass
Now”
Colorado National Monument and the National Park Service (NPS)
have partnered with digital government services provider NIC Inc.
(NASDAQ: EGOV) to launch “Your Pass Now,” a new program that makes
entrance passes to national parks available for purchase online.
Colorado National Monument is the second of three national parks to
launch Your Pass Now, a digital solution that provides an
alternative to the traditional paper-based purchase method.
“At Colorado National Monument, we continually strive to improve
services to our visitors and the public,” said Ken Mabery,
Superintendent of Colorado National Monument. “With the launch of
this electronic pass, we are entering into a new era of
convenience. Visitors now have more choices in how and when they
purchase passes to visit the Monument. We hope that this new option
will reduce the time that visitors have to wait in line at the
Entrance Station.”
Your Pass Now allows visitors to Colorado National Monument to
purchase an entrance pass online at no additional cost in advance
of their visit using their personal computer or mobile device. Once
purchased, the pass can be printed or stored on a mobile device for
use on a specified date. In the second phase of Your Pass Now, park
rangers at Colorado National Monument can now validate the pass by
scanning the Quick Response (QR) code pictured on the pass.
Because Your Pass Now does not require internet connectivity,
park rangers can verify the validity of an entrance pass from
anywhere in the park. By using the Your Pass Now validation feature
park rangers can proactively detect fraudulent pass use.
Additionally, Your Pass Now promotes understanding about how
park entrance fees are needed and used to protect and maintain the
nation’s treasured landmarks. Your Pass now serves as a critical
step in collecting valuable revenue for both Colorado National
Monument and the NPS.
“NIC is proud to partner with the Colorado National Monument and
the National Park Service to launch Your Pass Now,” said Robert
Knapp, NIC Chief Operating Officer. “For nearly 25 years we have
been delivering online and mobile efficiencies to citizens and we
are pleased to now bring this convenience to our nation’s
parks.”
NIC was also selected to provide Your Pass Now for Acadia
National Park in Maine and Theodore Roosevelt National Park in
North Dakota.
