SC.gov, a partnership between the South Carolina Division of State Information Technology and South Carolina Interactive, a Columbia-based subsidiary of eGovernment firm NIC (Nasdaq: EGOV), has achieved the milestone of processing over 1 million payments for its state and local governments in 2013. SC.gov processes payments for over 150 government entities throughout the state via web-based applications. The one millionth payment was made on November 7, 2013 to Calhoun County – St. Matthews Magistrate.

“SC.gov serves as a resource to citizens and businesses, as well as state and local governments in South Carolina. Reaching over 1 million online payments in less than a year reflects the importance of providing the best online technology possible to allow South Carolinians to conduct business in an efficient manner,” says DSIT Director Jimmy Earley.

Since its inception in 2006, SC.gov has provided businesses and citizens throughout South Carolina the ability to make online payments for hunting and fishing licenses, utility bills, property taxes, court fines, business and professional licenses, and other government services. Using a unique self-funded model, SC.gov’s payment processing applications and services are provided at no cost to taxpayers.
