  MEDISYS & BECTON DICKINSON AGREE FAR EAST DISTRIBUTION DEAL FOR NICSAFE

Medisys PLC announces that it has signed an agreement for a further joint
marketing and distribution deal with Becton Dickinson for its NicSafe Needle
Disposal System.  

Under the terms of the collaboration Becton Dickinson will distribute the
NicSafe 1800 product through its sales network in Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar,
Brunei and Micronesia.

Market launch in the specified countries is expected to commence in the fourth
quarter of 1999 following initial clinical and marketing trials at three key
regional medical centres.

Becton Dickinson is the largest manufacturer of hypodermic syringes and
needles in the world, producing approximately 10 billion needles annually. 
The NicSafe 1800 Needle Disposal System is a lightweight, self-contained
needle disposal system that will incinerate needles effectively and safely at
the point of use.  The system provides a practical and cost effective solution
to the problem of needlestick injury, which affects over one million
healthcare workers per annum in the US alone.  

Kurt E. Amundson, President and Chief Operating Officer of Medisys said: "This
agreement is the second NicSafe marketing collaboration we have concluded with
Becton Dickinson and follows last month's deal with PSS, the leading supplier
of physicians offices in the US, underlining the confidence that the major
distributors have in the NicSafe technology.

"We are currently pursuing a number of additional opportunities to extend
NicSafe's geographical market coverage and building on our relationships with
our existing partners will be a key part of this strategy.  Coupled with an
aggressive approach to the legislative initiatives in the United States, we
remain optimistic on market development prospects for our NicSafe 1800
product."

Steven Fang, Country Manager Singapore/Malaysia/Vietnam for Becton Dickinson,
said: "This is a timely collaboration between Becton Dickinson and NIC in
the area of healthcare worker safety.  NIC's needle incinerator technology
addresses a well recognised need for safe needle destruction at the point of
use and the NicSafe will have a key role to play in helping Becton Dickinson
deliver its customers a total solution in medication delivery and after-use
disposal."
