ACDelco Helping to Promote National Car Care Month With Free
Vehicle Check Lane Inspections and Safety Education GRAND BLANC,
Mich., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- ACDelco takes a hands-on approach
to promote April's National Car Care Month and educate consumers
about the benefits of proper vehicle maintenance and repair.
"ACDelco not only supports Car Care Month, but we're also
encouraging our entire distribution family to support it as well,"
said Sally Thelen, ACDelco sales administrator and an executive
board member of the Car Care Council Women's Board. "We embrace the
Car Care Council's 'Be Car Care Aware' promotion as it strives to
change attitudes toward regular vehicle maintenance." ACDelco
Warehouse Distributors in select markets will facilitate the
campaign by securing local sponsors and technicians to operate free
vehicle inspections, along with other events, in communities
nationwide. "This is the tenth straight year ACDelco has supported
vehicle inspections during National Car CareMonth," Thelen pointed
out. "It's an opportunity for us to increase consumer awareness
about the importance of vehicle maintenance and for our direct and
secondary accounts to enhance customer relationships and build
goodwill in the community." Drivers can have their tires, fluids,
filters, batteries, belts and hoses, wipers and other automotive
parts inspected by trained experts at the vehicle check lanes. Any
mechanical discrepancies found during the inspections will be
reported in writing to the vehicle owners, along with a list of
area Independent Service Centers for the parts and services they
might need. Last April, 90 percent of the vehicles inspected during
Car Care Month failed one or more aspect of the inspection. More
than half (54 percent) of the vehicles had improperly inflated
tires. The next most common flaws were low or dirty fluids, worn
belts, and loose or corroded battery cables, clamps and terminals.
Thelen said the check lanes are designed to be educational and
non-sales oriented and often include games and activities for kids,
as well as refreshments and vehicle maintenance displays. "The most
successful and memorable events have been those sponsored by a
local radio station, a local car club or MADD chapter, and other
groups or agencies," she said. "The intent is to provide consumers
with a relaxed yet professional environment in which they can learn
about vehicle maintenance and safety." To learn more about
