Henkel AG said Wednesday that it plans to expand its activities with new investments in sustainable packaging and advanced materials.

The German consumer-goods company said the venture capital arm of its adhesive technologies unit will invest in a packaging fund launched by Emerald Technology Ventures, a Switzerland-based venture capital firm.

As a limited partner of the Emerald fund, Henkel said it will have access to hundreds of startups in areas such as material and technology innovation and recycling.

Financial details weren't disclosed.
