Russia's oil production edged higher in February, to a new
post-Soviet high of 10.36 million barrels a day, as increased
capital spending helped stabilize falling output in West Siberia,
Energy Ministry data showed Friday.
Russia--the world's biggest oil producer ahead of Saudi
Arabia--produced a total of 40.98 million metric tons of crude oil
and gas condensate in February, which is a 4.8% rise from the same
month last year, the ministry's Central Dispatching Department of
Fuel Energy Complex said on its website.
Production was up from 10.35 million barrels a day in
January.
Of the total, 18.57 million tons of crude oil was exported, a
0.4% increase from February last year.
