Unilever N.V. Analyst Notes
On April 9, 2014, Unilever N.V.
(Unilever) announced that all of its factories across Europe achieved a zero non-hazardous waste to
landfill. Unilever stated that this achievement along with similar
success in countries from Argentina to Indonesia have joined those in North America in achieving zero non-hazardous
waste to landfill. According to the Company, consequent to this,
more than 75% of the Company's global factory network does not send
such waste to landfill. Unilever stated that under the Company's
Sustainable Living Plan, it targeted that waste disposal by 2020
should be below 2008 levels. However, with the rapid acceleration
in converting the network to zero waste, Pier Luigi Sigismondi,
Chief Supply Chain Officer, Unilver, informed that the target can
be achieved by 2015, five years earlier than the original date. He
further noted that since the launching of the Plan in 2010, zero
