Engineered Support Receives $4.6 Million Contract From United
Defense ST. LOUIS, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Engineered
Support Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:EASI) has received a $4.6 million
subcontract from United Defense Industries Inc. (NYSE:UDI) for the
design, development and testing of a Turret System Control Panel
and Mission Processor for the Bradley M2A2 Operation Iraqi Freedom
(OIF) vehicle program. The Company's Systems & Electronics Inc.
(SEI) subsidiary will perform the work at its St. Louis facility,
according to Gerald A. Potthoff, Vice Chairman, CEO and President.
United Defense is the prime contractor with the U.S. Army for both
the development and production of the Bradley. Ultimately, SEI's
support of this production effort will include equipment for 131
Bradley A2 OIF vehicles and 31 M7 Bradley Fire Support Team
vehicles to be upgraded and remanufactured by United Defense from
June 2005 through August 2006. In addition to the initial
development subcontract, SEI has received authorization from United
Defense to initiate the procurement of long-lead materials for the
production phase of the program. SEI anticipates a full production
award in the fourth quarter of this year. Potthoff commented, "We
