Nutrition company Herbalife Ltd. (HLF) on Thursday said it had
received a letter of inquiry into its business practices from U.S.
Sen. Edward Markey, (D., Mass.) and looked forward to addressing
his concerns, CNBC reported, citing a company spokeswoman.
In a statement to CNBC, Herbalife said it received Sen. Markey's
letter on Thursday "and look forward to an opportunity to introduce
the company to him and address his concerns at his earliest
convenience."
Sen. Markey sent letters of inquiry to regulators concerning the
business practices of Herbalife, Reuters reported earlier Thursday
on its website.
Sen. Markey has made inquiries about the nutrition company to
the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Trade
Commission along with Herbalife, according to a news release from
his office, Reuters reported.
