DMV Commissioner Pat Reed is thrilled to announce the
implementation of the first DMV Self-Service Terminal (SST), right
outside the Regional Office in Kanawha City, at the Shops at
Kanawha.
According to Commissioner Reed, “We are working hard to make DMV
services, especially vehicle registration renewals, more convenient
and accessible to our customers. This particular SST was unveiled
at the West Virginia State Fair by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin, and
is now ready to be our first SST in the field. Additional SSTs,
also known as kiosks, will be installed across the State in the
coming weeks,” she said.
Vehicle registration renewals are one of DMV’s most requested
business transactions. Between July 2015 and July 2016, online
vehicle registration renewals through www.dmv.wv.gov reached
100,000 transactions. Similar to the online application,
self-service kiosks are designed for renewals. New vehicle
registrations still must be obtained by visiting a DMV office. With
touch-screen monitors, the SSTs will be able to complete a vehicle
registration renewal in less than two minutes through debit or
credit card payments, and will print a registration card and decal
during the transaction.
The SSTs will all be located in more convenient locations that
are open 24 hours of the day, seven days a week, giving DMV
customers another avenue in which to conduct their DMV business.
They are highly secure and built to look like an ATM.
Additionally, by next month, West Virginians also will be able
to renew drivers' licenses at the SSTs. More information will be
announced in the coming weeks.

The new self-service terminal was developed in partnership with
West Virginia DMV and WV.gov.
